On March 18th 2014, the Albanian Development Fund, at the premises of Hotel “Mondial” in Tirana, held the workshop on “New Technologies in the Agro-food Sector-EU Experiences”.
The project entitled “Miniaturization technology: synergies of research and innovation to enhance the economic development of the Adriatic” is financed from EU through IPA Adriatic Cross-Border Cooperation Programme. The Project started in October 2012, and is expected to be finalized by March 2015.
The Project aims at enhancing the research and innovation competences in the agribusiness sector in the Adriatic Region, by establishing an economical, social and institutional cooperation.
Participants in this Project, ADF included, are seven organizations from four countries of Adriatic Region, namely, Italy, Croatia, Greece and Bosnia & Herzegovina.
The workshop addressed key findings from the analysis and studies on the agro-food sector, successful practices in Albania and the Adriatic region, new and innovative miniaturized technologies. The information provided in this workshop was completed with an introduction to the EU standards and requirements regarding organic products and exports.
Participants at this workshop were representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Water Administration, representatives of the Regional Directorates of Agriculture, Rural Development and Administration of Waters, representatives of the Agricultural University of Tirana, as well as representatives of research non-governmental organizations, of agro-food association and private agro-food businesses.
The ADF representative, Mr. Blendi Bushati, Director of Regional Development Department stated, among other things, that the project was a contribution to the fulfillment of the ADF mission in the implementation of policies and instruments of regional and local development.
The materials containing project key findings and studies were made available to the participants in this workshop.
The Albanian Development Agency (ADF) is an institution which encourages a sustainable, balanced and cohesive socio-economic development at local and regional level, in support of government’s development policies.
